Emilia-Romagna is a major cultural and touristic region. It contains numerous Renaissance palaces and cities (such as Modena, Parma and Ferrara), and benefits from a long history of prosperity and tradition of fine living.
Emilia-Romagna boasts a particularly rich culinary heritage (tortellini, lasagna, Parmesan cheese and ham, balsamic vinegar are just a few examples of the many delicious recipes and products) and is also a major centre for automobile productions (Emilia–Romagna is home of numerous iconic automotive industries, such as Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati and Ducati.
The coastline is lively and colourful, with numerous tourist resorts like Rimini, Cattolica and Riccione.
Bologna is the region's capital and has one of Italy's highest quality of life.
Many are the towns and cities of historical and artistic interest: not just Bologna, Modena, Parma and Ferrara but also Faenza with its world-famous Ceramics Museum and production house, and Ravenna with the world's finest Byzantine mozaics outside of Istanbul.
