The apartment is in Ortigia, the heart of Syracuse historical centre, minutes walk from the main square and the promenade by the sea. Ortigia is a small island linked by two bridges to the main town and is now one of Unesco protected World Heritages centres. Its labyrinth of little alleyways dotted with ancient Greek ruins, Baroque fountains, open air restaurants and cafes will not fail to entertain you.

Syracuse was the capital of the Magna Grecia and you can enjoy visiting one of the largest Greek theatres, where in May and June they still perform plays from Aeschylus to Aristophanes; another sight not be missed are the S. Giovanni Catacombs, second in size only to the Rome ones. The heart of the town is the magnificent Cathedral Square, a large pedestrian area surrounded by beautiful buildings. The sight of the lit up square enjoyed while having a meal in one of the open air restaurants will be an unforgettable magical memory.

It is situated in a narrow road lit up by pretty lanterns and suitable only for small cars.

From lounge stairs to 3rd and top floor, with large double bedroom, with window with view of the sea in the distance. Bathroom with shower. From bedroom doors to covered terrace with washing machine, outdoor kitchen with 4 gas ring hob and sink, table and chairs (no fridge), from here access to uncovered terrace with charming views over the old town with its churches and roof tops. This terrace can also be reached via an external staircase from the lower terrace.

The apartment is fully air conditioned and it has heating for the cooler months. It is of good standard and we feel it is not suitable for children. Please note this a NON SMOKING apartment. Smoking is allowed only in the terraces.

Sandy beaches are within 15 minutes drive or a rocky beach is 10 minutes walk from the apartments. In the Summer months only, there is a lido 5 minutes walk away.

Parking: Ortigia is now a Unesco protected area and therefore there is a car ban in place within the historical centre. Cars can be left at the Talete car park just before the exclusion area; there is a free shuttle service connecting the car park with Piazzale Archimede in Ortigia just 5 minutes walk from Casa Santo. The Talete car park is 10-15 minutes walk from Casa Santo.

Casa Mandarino

located in the Agrigento area, is a magnificent property, near the agriculture center on the southern coast of Sicily. The villa is part of a country estate with wonderful views, a place where you can definitely stay and with the facility of having your own swimming pool. Guests can dine "al fresco" on the large terrace and cool off in the large swimming pool. The villa is decorated in country style, with original ceiling beams and simple rustic elegance. There are four comfortable bedrooms, with the living room and kitchen opening onto the terrace with pergola. A delightful rural location like this is the perfect refuge from the stress of everyday life. Casa Leone

is an old country house where guests can enjoy a breathtaking panorama over the sea, reachable directly by a path. Villa Ventosa

is a lovely property set in an attractive setting with an old town running down the side of the hill to the harbor below. The town is surrounded by walls; the most recent of which date from the mid-16th century, which were superimposed on older ones from the first half of the 14th century. There are three gateways into Sciacca through these walls: Palermo Gate, in baroque style and with columns adorned with a large eagle; the Porta San Salvatore, rich in Renaissance sculpture and built in the 16th century and through which we access the Piazza Carmine; and the Porta San Calogero, dating from the first half of the 16th century.

Villa Rosalina

is located in the area of Scopello close to the sea and about 6km from the village of Scopello and the Natural Reserve park. The picturesque small town of Scopello is on the unspoilt coastline close to the Zingaro Nature Reserve with panoramic walks and an estimated 30 species of birds can be found. Snorkeling and scuba-diving in the crystal clear waters will offer unforgettable views of the underwater grottos. Within approximately 100m from the villa is a well-stocked shop.

Il Veliero

is located near Scopello, with a short walk, crossing the road you will reach the sea and the private rocky beach shared between three villas, from where you will enjoy your own private view of the picturesque coast and one of the famous sea stacks that characterize the area. Il Veliero sits on a large patio area with private swimming pool and consists of the main villa and an annex. From a spacious veranda, which runs along two sides of the building, you will access the bright and tastefully furnished living/dining room. Next to it there is a modern well-equipped kitchen (oven, microwave, toaster, gas cooker, fridge and freezer) that is accessible from the veranda too.

Il Ponticello

is a beautifully restored property located on a hill in the countryside with views of the vineyards and fruit trees. Access to the property is via a non-asphalted road. The villa is about 600m from the main road close to the beach resort of Balestrate where there are bars, small shops, and restaurants. The sandy beaches are popular with crystal clear waters, while in the countryside the landscape is a patchwork of vineyards.

We have stayed in Ortigia, Siracusa before and love the area. Casa Santo is in a side street off of Via Roma so is very central. The apartment is over 2 floors and there is a roof terrace on each floor. Easy walking distance to the wonderful market, open every day and there are some small supermarkets nearby too. We had a wonderful time and would love to go to this apartment again.
