Syracuse was the capital of the Magna Grecia and you can enjoy visiting one of the largest Greek theatres, where in May and June they still perform plays from Aeschylus to Aristophanes; another sight not be missed are the S. Giovanni Catacombs, second in size only to the Rome ones. The heart of the town is the magnificent Cathedral Square, a large pedestrian area surrounded by beautiful buildings. The sight of the lit up square enjoyed while having a meal in one of the open air restaurants will be an unforgettable magical memory.
THE APARTMENT
It is situated in a narrow road lit up by pretty lanterns and suitable only for small cars.
External stairs to second floor. From a pleasant terrace there is the main entrance door into a corridor leading to a small bedroom with two single beds (that can be joined together for a double bed), double French doors with mosquito nets, opening onto the terrace with table and chairs, and separate bathroom with shower and mosquito nets. On this floor, we find the living area with beamed ceiling, with sofas (one of which is a double sofa bed), a single divan bed, and open plan kitchen with fridge/freezer, cooker with oven, dishwasher and microwave, dolcegusto coffee maker ( bring your own pods please). Satellite Smart TV. The living room has mosquito nets on the window.
From the lounge, stairs to 3rd floor (top floor), we find a large double bedroom with view of the sea in the distance and mosquito net on the window. From this bedroom, doors (with mosquito nets) lead up to a covered terrace (retractable roof) with washing machine, outdoor kitchen with 4 gas ring hob and sink, table and chairs (no fridge), and a lovely furnished area with shaded cover, soft seating and table with chairs for al-fresco meals. On this floor there is a separate bathroom with shower and mosquito net.
The apartment has WI-FI included and it is fully air conditioned (cold and hot air for summer and winter). It has heated tower rail radiators in the bathrooms for the cooler months.
Please note: we feel that this apartment it is not suitable for small children or people with walking difficulties due to the external stairs. Please note this is a NON SMOKING apartment. Smoking is allowed only in the terraces.
Sandy beaches are within 15 minutes drive or a rocky beach is 10 minutes walk from the apartments. In the Summer months only, there is a lido 5 minutes walk away.
Parking: Ortigia is now a Unesco protected area and therefore there is a car ban in place within the historical centre. Parking in a private garage , situated in Piazza San Giuseppe, 2 minutes from the apartment, this can be pre-booked and subject to availability ( extra).
It can be paid directly to the Garage owner, the parking charge will include the transit permit to access the traffic free zone . Cars can also be left at the Talete car park just before the exclusion area; there is a free shuttle service connecting the car park with Piazzale Archimede in Ortigia just 5 minutes walk from Casa Dei Nonni. The Talete car park is 10-15 minutes walk from Casa Dei Nonni.

Beautiful location and view! Very lovely apartment in a great location. Just note that there are quite a few stairs to get up to the apartment, inside and out. But if you can do the stairs, the view is worth it!
The flat is fantastic. We spent relaxing hours on the two magnificent roof terraces, listening to the calm and lively sounds of Siracusa, watching the seagulls and swallows and observing a nocturnal Etna eruption in the distance. For people with a sense of history, myth, culture and beauty, Oritigia is an almost inexhaustible place. And we were right in the centre of it. We hardly needed any support and Loreana on site responded immediately, even late in the evening.

This was a lovely, comfortable, well equipped apartment, full of character in a fantastic position in central Ortigia. Located in a quiet side street 5 minutes walk from the stunning Piazza Duomo on one side, and the sea on the other. Good communication prior to arriving and a friendly local host who was quick to respond and very helpful. We particularly liked the 2 outside terraces - all in all a wonderful place!
A lovely flat in a perfect location. beautiful roof terrace to relax and enjoy the Ortigia vibe. Cristina responded to all communications quickly and there was a very helpful local caretaker.
Cristina’s place was a great base to explore the beautiful area of Ortigia and walking distance to Syracuse (about 20 minutes). We really enjoyed watching the sunset from the gorgeous balcony while drinking a limoncello spritz and we were close to many great restaurants and sights. Highly recommend

Het appartement is schitterend gelegen in het hart van Ortigia. Het dakterras is echt een meerwaarde, vandaar voel je de siciliaanse sfeer rondom maar kan je toch heerlijk chillen.

A nice and cosy penthouse flat on very centric location. Having a car was a such experience with narrow street, luckily Cristina advised a helpfull garage near by.

Read the fine print carefully - it’s an incredible place and well worth it if you’re up for it - it’s all listed in the original listing but there is a 50euro fee for arriving Sunday or after 9pm, and a security fee, and they charge for electricity, a lot of back and forth on channels outside the app to connect with local caretaker and provide info etc to get in. There are many stairs and it’s not suitable for anyone w mobility issues. All that said - This place is beautiful. It’s tucked in an incredible location in Ortigia. The terraces are amazing and you can see the ocean across the rooftops of the old city. There’s plenty of space, especially if you’re traveling with 4. The local caretaker was very responsive, friendly and flexible. The communication before, details and security fee were all a bit stressful before checkin, but the views on the terrace among the swifts and lovely accommodations in a perfect location were worth it.

Die Lage der Wohnung ist phantastisch! Zentral und ruhig! Die Terrasse mit Blick über die umliegenden Häuser ist ein herrlicher Ort. Die Küche ist gut ausgestattet. Nur die Betten im unteren Zimmer hingen ziemlich durch. Zudem gibt es eine Wasserpumpe direkt über diesem Zimmer und immer wenn Wasser genutzt wurde brummte sie für einige Zeit. Nachdem wir die Ursache wussten, konnten wir es gut vermeiden Wasser zu brauchen, solang noch jemand dort schlief. Insgesamt hatten wir einen tollen Aufenthalt und waren sehr froh um die tolle Lage.
Appartement extrêmement bien situé tout à proximité; que de soit à deux pas les accès à la mer pour se baigner ou juste à côté la place du Duomo. Le roof top est très agréable avec ses deux parties pour dîner ou déjeuner d’un côté pour se reposer de l’autre côté. Nous avons passé un excellent séjour.

We spent a great week in Cristina’s flat and everything was as expected from the description on airb&b The flat is nicely furnished, is well located in Ortigia and has very nice views The keyholder, Loriana, is also very welcoming and helpful If you want to choose this flat just be mindfull of the stairs and of the need to allow a budget for electricity as this currently cost 0,5€ kwh in Italy and for us, using air conditioning as it was very hot, this added 100€ to the stay for 1 week

This is a spacious, comfortable and well-equipped flat, with all you would need for a short or a long stay. The two terraces are excellent, especially the upper one, which has great views. The entry steps are quite steep and narrow; not a problem for us, but might be for some. As flagged in the particulars, there is a charge for energy usage. The position is great, close to the cathedral, and a great base for exploring Ortigia. We enjoyed trips to Noto, Donnafugata, Taormina and a rail journey around Etna. The vegan restaurant Moon, very near the flat, was excellent.

Wow, what an amazing stay we had! My husband and I stayed here with my parents for a few days, and it was a real delight. So well located, well-appointed, and very clean. The perfect place for two couples. We loved the terrace and spent the evenings up there enjoying the ocean breeze. There’s even a stovetop and bbq for those who like to cook. Note that electricity and WiFi are additional charges. We ended up using WiFi at a cafe nearby, and it was nice to be offline while in the apartment. But something to know when you’re making the booking. Anyway, I highly recommend Cristina’s place. We would definitely return.
Cristina's apartment is literally a few steps from the main square, nestled in the beautiful old town and with everything within waking distance. The apartments is spacious and the terraces are simply perfect to start the day with a sunny breakfast or to wind down at sunset: pictures cannot fully describe their beauty! Definitely a place where we'd like to go back!
Cristina’s apartment in Ortigia is gorgeous. We had an excellent time! We did a lot of cooking and spent evenings on the terrace. The apartment is close to everything worth exploring in ortigia, and while it was a bit touristy, it was excellent considering the long summer holiday. Expect a slightly unreasonable cash deposit upon arrival, and pay attention to possible hidden charges. Parking is tricky on the island so taking the time to be strategic is important. But if those things are no bother to you, this is the best place to spend your vacation in Sicily.

Absolutely amazing apartment. The outdoor space of 2 terraces and 3 seating areas has to be the ultimate bonus of staying here especially with the bbq and kitchen area. Buy produce from the market and cook lovely Sicilian food outdoors! Also so central for fabulous restaurants, sites and the sea! Thanks Christina for letting us experience the beautiful apartment and city.
Very comfortable apartment in the heart of Ortigia. The upper deck has a really nice seating area for enjoying the evening outside and the interior was very comfortable also. The kitchen was well equipped for cooking and we enjoyed going to the market and preparing meals at the apartment, although many good restaurants are around also. Loriana, the key holder, helped arrange a taxi to the airport and assisted promptly when necessary. The fresh goodies left were a nice touch!

The apartment is in a lovely part of Ortigia, along a road little used by cars. It was easy to get all around the island on foot. We enjoyed sitting on the terrace, hearing the muted sounds of the city around us, but more unexpectedly watching and listening to the swifts swooping past at head level! The apartment is as advertised, everything as listed. The outside stairs are as steep as other reviewers have noted, but the local agent helped us with our luggage. The stairs run from inside a door locked to the street, so it felt quite safe. We had no need to contact the agent during our stay, but they were easily contactable on our arrival and departure. We had a hire car and found using the Talete car park straightforward once we understood the payment system, and found Ortigia a good base to explore the southeast of Sicily. However, watch out for some very bumpy roads around the main town of Siracusa, especially outside the train station!
We thoroughly enjoyed our time on Ortygia and at Casa Santo. The location is in the old Jewish quarter, on a interesting, narrow street - - near to the Duomo and to almost anything of interest on the island. We loved the two terraces - - one on each floor- - which overlook an interesting roofscape and sunrise over the sea. We appreciated the arrival (they arranged for a taxi from Catania airport - - ask for Pepe, the driver) including fruit and a bottle of Sicilian wine waiting for us on the kitchen table. Good, well-equipped kitchen; clothes washer. We were two couples, and one bedroom is clearly more desirable than the other - - but we worked that out. A word of caution: access to the apartment is via a steep, outside stair. It was not a problem for us, but might be a problem for someone. Overall- a great place to stay.
Un très bel appartement, situé au coeur de l'île d'Ortigia, à cinq minutes à pied de la mer, du Duomo et de toutes les commodités. Le logement est accessible après deux escaliers, dont un, extérieur, assez raide, à déconseiller donc aux personnes ayant des difficultés à se déplacer ou avec de très jeunes enfants. Accueil charmant et efficace de Lorianna. Ortigia offre de nombreuses possibilités de sorties et d'activités. Les soirées y sont animées, les après-midis calmes. C'est un endroit magnifique.

Vi var 4 voksne venninner som syntes leiligheten var perfekt med soverom og flotte bad i hver sin etasje og med to terrasser. Den øverste terrassen med soltak, fin sittegruppe, luftig og flott utsikt. Leiligheten var hjemmekoselig og godt utstyrt med alt man trenger og kun 3 minutter ned til sjøen og bademuligheter fra klipper. Stedet kan varmt anbefales til tross for litt dyr strøm (brukte aircondition om natten).
