We have an amazing selection of villas!
This charming city is known for its historic town center, beautiful architecture, and main town square.
It’s a World UNESCO Heritage Site, which makes walking the streets similar to that of a museum. It was originally settled by Etruscan tribes and was a powerful hub in Tuscany for many years.
Visitors today can enjoy the architecture and infrastructure that has been left over, and learn a whole lot about the history along the way. While in Siena, make sure to explore the architectural gems like the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, the Piazza del Campo, Palazzo Publico, and Torre del Mangia. Explore the beauty and artwork of Biblioteca Piccolomini, browse the art and artefacts inside the Siena National Gallery, and do some people watching at Piazza Salimbeni.
Branch out and take a look at the former fort, which was built in the 16th and 17th centuries, as well as the port and its defensive walls. Visit the Baptistery, the Siena Civic Museum, and the Santuario di Santa Caterina.
No matter what you do while in Siena you’re sure to learn about history, architecture, and authentic, Italian culture.
Spring is the best season to visit Siena as it’s not too hot, rainy, or cold. April through June is when the weather is fantastic and the tourist crowds are smaller. While summer may be too hot for many travellers, it is the season for the town’s largest event, the Palio di Siena, which takes place in July. A visit in the fall will yield mild weather and plenty of opportunities for trekking, and those who go in the winter can stay busy and warm in the museums.
Siena can be easily reached by train, especially if you’re coming from Florence. The trains run frequently and only take about an hour. However, those travelling from Rome may have to wait longer between trains, and those coming from Pisa may have to change trains before arriving. Taking a bus is one of the best ways to get around Tuscany as it’s simple and fast. If you’re travelling from Rome or Florence, the bus is the best way to go. The rides are just under an hour, the buses run frequently, and you’ll be dropped off in the historic centre of town.
